Newport is a city in Lincoln County, Oregon.  It was incorporated in 1882.  As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,532, a growth of nearly 13% over its 1990 population.  The 2006 estimate is 10,240 residents.

Newport is the county seat of Lincoln County.   It is also the home of the Oregon Cost Aquarium, Nye Beach, and Yaquina Head Lighthouse.

The Yaquina Head Light, also known early in its existence as the Cape Foulweather  Lighthouse, is a lighthouse on the Oregon Coast. It is located near the mouth of the Yaquina River near Newport at Yaquina Head. Built from 1871 to 1873, it was automated in 1966 and is currently an active aid to navigation.

It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 as reference number #73002340.
